Fire design CPD hailed a great success
A CPD seminar focusing on fire design and smoke venting solutions hosted by FDS Contracting and sister company FDS Consult has been praised by delegates.
Presented to architects, M&E consultants, developers and contractors at the Building Centre in London on 18th September, the seminar shared an overview of fire engineering principles and smoke venting for projects within the residential, commercial and mixed use sectors.
Hosted by three industry practitioners with more than 35 years’ combined fire engineering experience, various case studies were used to illustrate smoke venting and sprinkler system solutions, whilst providing an overview of fire engineering, achieving building regulations compliancy and value engineered solutions.
Strong feedback from RRO (Regulatory Reform Order) presentations in the past allowed for this to once again be a pivotal part of the presentation, allowing the delegates to be guided through fire risk assessment and management strategy.
Attendee feedback praised the topics covered, which included background thinking behind the building regulations, fire mitigation factors to be considered during the design stage and the information regarding BS9991 since its recent change.
Samantha Riley, Director at FDS Contracting, said: “We were delighted to once again share our fire engineering experience with a number of familiar faces as well as new industry practitioners. We find that CPD seminars are a great way of discussing key industry topics, as well as listening to our delegates to find out what issues are impacting them the most at present. Our RRO presentation went down particularly well and it was great to see receive so much feedback and interest in our new FireSmart product.”
